The Department of Public Works consists of the Commissioner of the Public works, Osvaldo Reyes the Foreman, Hector Torres, ten laborers and a secretary. The hours of regular operation are M-F, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. you can call 845-429-2562. For emergencies after hours, please contact the Town of Haverstraw Police at 845-354-1500.

The DPW is responsible for road maintenance and plowing of all village owned streets, maintaining all village properties and parks, street signage, brush, and leaf collection, appliance, tire, and e-waste recycling and for general village upkeep on public property and streets. The DPW will also pick up small quantities of residential construction debris, not exceeding two 35 gallon pails per week.

The DPW does not handle garbage collection or paper and co-mingled recycling. This is handled by private carters. We do, however, have available for pick up at our facility at 115 Bowline Plant Road, leaf bags. Most residents and mixed use properties are collected by Hiep Sanitation. If there is a problem with your collection, you can call  Village Hall at 429-0300. We remind everyone that garbage and recycling should be not be placed out for pick up before 6:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled collection, and empty cans and containers should be removed from the street by the end of the day on the day of collection.

We also remind all residents that from November 15th through March 31st there is no overnight parking on village streets, except those designated for alternate side parking (Hudson Avenue, Union Street, Broad Street, Division Street and Clinton Street.)
