LEGAL NOTICE

The resolution, a summary of which is published herewith, has been adopted on December 16, 2024, and the validity of the obligations authorized by such resolution may be hereafter contested only if such obligations were authorized for an object or purpose for which the Village of Haverstraw, in the County of Rockland, New York, is not authorized to expend money or if the provisions of law which should have been complied with as of the date of publication of this Notice were not substantially complied with, and an action, suit or proceeding contesting such validity is commenced within twenty days after the publication of this Notice, or such obligations were authorized in violation of the provisions of the constitution.

BOND RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF HAVERSTRAW, NEW YORK, ADOPTED DECEMBER 16, 2024, AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF A SETTLED CLAIM, STATING THE ESTIMATED MAXIMUM COST THEREOF IS NOT TO EXCEED $1,633,491.57, APPROPRIATING SAID AMOUNT FOR SUCH PURPOSE, INCLUDING AVAILABLE FUNDS OF THE VILLAGE IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,133,491.57, AND AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS OF THE VILLAGE IN THE PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF NOT TO EXCEED $500,000.00 TO FINANCE THE BALANCE OF SAID APPROPRIATION

The object or purpose for which the bonds are authorized is pay an award In the Matter of Village of Haverstraw, appellant; Ray River Co., Inc., et al., respondents (Index No. 8853/27)

The amount of obligations to be issued is $500,000.00.

The period of probable usefulness applicable to the purpose for which said serial bonds are authorized to be issued, within the limitations of Section 11.00 a. 33. of the Law, is five (5) years; provided, however, that in the event the total amount of such judgment and any other similar claims, judgments or awards falling due and being paid in a single fiscal year shall exceed one per centum of the average assessed valuation of real property in the Village, the applicable period of probable usefulness shall be ten (10) years; and provided further that in the event such judgment and any other similar claims, judgments or awards falling due and being paid in a single fiscal year shall exceed two per centum of the average assessed valuation of real property in the Village, the applicable period of probable usefulness shall be fifteen (15) years. A complete copy of the Bond Resolution summarized above shall be available for public inspection during normal business hours at the office of the Village Clerk, Village of Haverstraw, 40 New Main Street, Haverstraw, New York.
